Criminal Court dismisses case against 87 Thinadhoo arson attack suspects

Criminal Court has dismissed and returned the case filed by the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office against 87 suspects involved in the arson attacks on government property in Gdh. Thinadhoo on 8 February 2012.

Media official of Criminal Court Ahmed Mohamed Manik said that the cases were returned due to discrepancies between the claim form, suspects’ personal details documents and the investigation statements.

An official of PG Office said that the documents are being perused, and that the case will be filed to Court once the checks are complete.

The 87 people, including a woman, are being accused of arson attacks on Thinadhoo Police Station, vehicles at the Police Station, Gdh. Atoll Council Office and Thinadhoo Magistrate Court.

PG Office said that four minors were also involved in these attacks, but cases against them have not yet been filed to Court.
