Tree Top Hospital, a private hospital located in suburban Hulhumale’ which has been designated a specialized COVID-19 hospital, and has begun treating virus patients.
At a National Emergency Operations Center press briefing on Saturday afternoon, Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) CEO Ibrahim Saleem said that Tree Top was currently treating five virus patients.
Saleem said that Tree Top and NEOC had signed an agreement to offer the use of the hospital’s resources to treat virus patients on April 26.
He said that the first of the virus patients was transferred to Tree Top on Wednesday.
Also at the press briefing, IGMH’s Director of Medical Services Dr. Ali Nazeem said that chances were a virus case may be identified in any medical center in Maldives.
He said that the patient being treated in Tree Top had been patients who had tested positive for the virus when taken to IGMH.
“There are two methods of treatment. Community based treatment; this is mostly in facilities such as Farukolhufushi or HIH. But some require more advanced treatment like oxygen therapy. Such patients are being transferred to Tree Top,” said Dr. Nazeem.
He said that all five patients being treated at Tree Top were transferred to the hospital based on their condition.
