Elderly man arrested for abuse of boy

An elderly man has been arrested in an island north of Maldives after attempting to sexually abuse a boy.

Reports of the incident in an island in the northern division (H. A, H. Dh, Sh atoll) were received last night around 01:25. The man arrested is aged 53 years, says Police. He was attempting to sexually abuse a 16-year old boy.

Police are now investigating the matter. Police have advised against releasing any personal information related to the case since it is a serious matter of child abuse.
