National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has announced that 32 locals in Ukraine are to be evacuated.

Speaking in a press conference underway tonight, NEOC spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez stated that the 32 are all students who registered to return to the Maldives.

“They are now working on purchasing the tickets.” Said Mabrouq.

He did not specify a date for their return. Any Maldivians who return from abroad will have to complete a 14-day quarantine period and would only be released after testing negative for COVDI-19.

Mabrouq also announced that work was underway to evacuate Maldivians in Saudi Arabia. The government has previously arranged the repatriation of locals from many countries such as the Philippines and India.
