Chinese Ambassador Zhang Lizhong, on Saturday, announced that a flight carrying emergency supplies donated by Chinese business magnate Jack Ma was on its way to Maldives.
The co-founder and former executive chairman of Alibaba Group, Jack Ma had announced a donation of emergency supplies to Asian countries including Maldives on March 21. The donation includes 1.8 million masks, 210,000 test kits, 36,000 protective suits, ventilators and thermometers.
Ambassador Zhang announced in a tweet this morning that the flight carrying the supplies was now on its way.
He said that such unprecedented times required extra effort, and that the Chinese Embassy had stepped in to coordinate as soon as Jack Ma had announced his donation. And that the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the local government of Guangxi, and six more enterprises had also stepped in to lend its assistance.
“Good things need patience,” said Ambassador Zhang in his tweet.
