2 Maafaru men arrested after they flout movement restriction order to go fishing

N. Maafaru.

Maldives Police Service, on Wednesday, arrested two people in N. Maafaru who went fishing, in violation of the movement restrictions in place on the island – which is under monitoring by the health authorities.

According to the police, the two fishing on Wednesday, and were arrested for violation of the movement restriction order and public disorder at approximately 10:40 pm.

They were identified as a 59-year-old Maldivian male and a 44-year-old Maldivian male.

The case is under further investigation by the police.

The police have urged members of the public to adhere to the instructions of the authorities, and the restrictive measures being imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
