Eight more test positive for COVID-19

National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC( has stated that eight more cases of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the Maldives. 

In a press conference tonight, NEOC spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez stated that the positive cases in the country included 125 locals and 152 foreigners. 27 cases have been confirmed by the authorities so far today.

Mabrouq also stated that 3775 contacts were identified from the positive cases and 277 locations were under monitoring mechanisms.

The total number of cases in the Maldives currently stands at 277. The majority of the cases were identified from the capital where a community spread of the virus was identified on April 15. 17 people have also made full recoveries after being infected with the virus.

Speaking in the same press conference, NEOC medical officer Dr. Ibrahim Afzal stated that the highest number of positive cases were identified from the BZM cluster or the cluster of cases identified from the market area of the capital city.
