5000 more test kits for COVID-19 received

National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez in a press conference tonight, has announced that the Maldives had received an additional 5000 test kits for COVID-19.  

The kits have been provided to the laboratory at IGMH now, said Mabrouq who added that a PCR machine used in the Police intelligence unit was also being used for testing purposes for the virus.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen also speaking in the presser, announced that Police Technologists would also take part in the testing procedure for the virus.

The Maldives hit the 100-case mark today with 108 confirmed cases of the virus. Mabrouq has previously said that the country currently had the capacity to conduct 300 tests per day, which would be increased.
