Confirmed virus cases in Maldives reach 100

The number of Covid-19 cases identified in the Maldives has increased to 108.

The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) confirmed that the number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives now stood at 108, in a press conference tonight. This includes 89 people that tested positive from the capital, Male’ City, which is under lockdown and curfew.

Government spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez stated that within the last 24 hours, HPA had tested 23 cases of the virus as positive. This includes nine people, three locals and five Bangladeshi nationals, confirmed earlier today.

The authorities also stated that 14 other cases living in the same residence had also tested positive for the virus. They were tested positive upon screening conducted of the residence.

The capital currently has 217 locations under monitoring mechanisms. 189 people are in isolation while 1546 people are in quarantine.
