Health Protection Agency (HPA) has just announced that two locals who consulted with a flu clinic in Male’ City had tested positive for Covid-19.

The new positive cases take the total number of confirmed cases in the capital to 66. HPA also informed that the two individuals were being transferred to an isolation facility.

After the first case of a community spread in Male’ City was identified on April 15, the number of identified cases in the capital has increased day by day. The total figure for the whole country now stands at 86.

Only one case has been identified from an inhabited island other than the capital. The case was identified in H.A Uligan.

Male’ City has confirmed 19 cases within the last 24 hours alone. The capital is in a state of lockdown and curfew following the confirmed cases and the whole nation is in a state of lockdown, meaning people are restricted to their current locations.
