Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced that 13 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Male’ City, increasing total cases in the capital to 62, and cases nationwide to 82.
The new cases include eight Maldivian nationals and five Bangladeshi nationals.
HPA has announced that all 13 new patients are being moved to an isolation facility, and that the agency was working on establishing links between the new patients and existing cases.
Male’ City had identified its first virus case on April 15. Authorities now believe virus cases had gone undetected for at least two to three weeks.
Of the 62 people who have tested positive for the virus in Male’; 33 are Maldivian nationals, 23 are Bangladeshi nationals and six are Indian nationals.
The patients include a pregnant woman, a person above the age of 60 years, and three children. HPA has stated previously that the condition of all patients remain stable.
