Maldivian Minister takes part in delivery work as capital undergoes lockdown

April 19, 2020: Minister for Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment of Maldives Ahmed Mahloof is photographed showing a thumbs up to the camera as he delivers items, while practicing social distancing, to households as the capital undergoes a lockdown of 14-days due to the situation with the Covid-19 virus.

Minister for Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment of Maldives Ahmed Mahloof joined volunteers in assisting the delivery of basic necessities and items to households in the capital as the city endures a 14-day long lockdown due to the Covid-19 situation.

Minister Mahloof took part in the delivery work by volunteers and assisted in the work to deliver goods from the Ihsaan Shop in Male’ City. He has now switched to working in the delivery efforts of the VB Mart in the capital.

Minister Mahloof requested anyone with delivery requirements to contact 7335426.

Shops in the capital have been struggling in delivery efforts due to the sudden lockdown imposed. There have been issues of late deliveries due to the immense demand for the service. Youth Ministry tried to curb these difficulties by announcing the search for volunteers to assist in this work for which around 300 responses were received.

The Ministry also clarified the criminal records of the volunteers before allowing them to commence with the work after explaining a special policy for the work.
