Peak point of virus expected within 14-days

National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), Medical Officer, Dr. Nazla Rafeeq has said that the country will reach a peak point of Covid-19 within 14 days.

In a news conference today, Dr. Nazla said that the community spread model for the capital regarding the disease was prepared once again.

“From the model, we estimate that the peak will be reached within 14 days of the first case.” said Dr. Nazla. 

She warned that the upcoming days would be extremely hard and would need a lot of awareness from the public. She said that the cooperation of the public would be very much needed when the virus peaks. The contact tracing work will also need to be conducted quicker, said Dr. Nazla who requested the public to report any suspected cases.

She said that anyone in contact with a positive case was also being tested for the virus and the number of cases were increasing due to this. 

Dr. Nazla added that the investigation into the two cases without any connections to any other positive case identified today would be continued before warning that the contact tracing work would have to be ceased if the virus spreads out of control.
