Police: Contact for basic necessities to be announced tonight

Police have stated that a number for the public to contact regarding basic necessities after a lockdown was imposed on the capital Male’ City will be announced tonight.

In a news conference tonight, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen stated that the number should be contacted for necessary purposes or assistance.

“The caller can inform where and why they are going outside. It is important that everyone keep their id cards on them,” said Naveen.

Arrangements are also being made for people to travel between Thilafushi, Hulhumale’ and Vilimale’. Those stranded in locations other than their homes can contact the number to be announced tonight. Special permits for duty employees of Customs and Immigration are also being formed.

Food delivery services can still operate under the passes previously issued for the curfew. Delivery services can operate from 19:00 to 00:00. More delivery passes will be issued tomorrow based on the outcome for tonight. Water delivery and gas services will also be arranged.
