Police have informed that everyone outdoors in Male' city to get indoors by 15:30

Director General of Public Health, Maimoona Aboobakuru, issued an order for a 24-hour lockdown on Male’ City, following the confirmation of the first case of COVID-19 in the capital.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced earlier today the first case of the virus case in the populous capital. A Maldivian national who presented to a flu clinic on Tuesday was tested positive and moved to an isolation facility.

Sun has been informed the patient is a middle aged woman who lives in the Maafannu district.

A source close to the patient told Sun she does not have any recent travel history overseas. HPA, too, confirms the patient does not have any recent travel history overseas.

She was tested for the disease after she presented herself to the flu clinic in located near Male' Hiya on Tuesday.
