The Maldivian government has announced that in total 325 people were released from quarantine facilities across the country.

In a news conference last night, government spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez stated that 12 people were in isolation while 1019 were in quarantine facilities. 28 were released from quarantine facilities yesterday as well, according to Mabrouq.

The government has invoked a mandatory 14 day quarantine period for locals returning back to the country from abroad. They are released only after completing the quarantine period and testing negative for the virus.

Resort employees are also allowed to leave after completing a 14-day period of quarantine after the last guests depart from the island. Employees are also allowed to depart if they had completed a quarantine period of 14 days in a designated area of the resort even when guests were present.

The government has permitted people to depart from 18 resorts and 43 safaris in total so far.

The Maldives has so far confirmed 19 cases of the Covid-19 virus.
