Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 49 people who arrived in Maldives from overseas have completed their mandatory quarantine period, and have been released home after testing negative for COVID-19.
The 49 people in question were in quarantine at Fun Island Resort, and following the completion of the 14-day mandatory quarantine period, were tested for the virus on Friday.
They all tested negative, and were released this Saturday.
881 more remain in quarantine.
Total 19 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives. The figure includes two Italian nationals who departed from Maldives before they were identified as positive for the disease.
13 of them, all foreign nationals who were either vacationing or working in resorts or safaris, have since recovered.
According to HPA, all patients who have recovered have now been released from isolation, except for one, identified as an Italian national.
He had tested negative on March 26, and is scheduled to be released after follow-up testing in two weeks.
The number of active cases stands at four, all of whom are Maldivian nationals who travelled back from the UK.
