Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid, on Sunday, met with the heads of 17 diplomatic missions overseas via video conference.
They included the heads of various high commissions, embassies, permanent missions, and consulates.
Discussions during the meeting focused on consular services being provided to Maldivian nationals in their respective host countries amid the COVID-19 pandemic, chiefly, their work on ensuring the health and safety of Maldivian nationals.
Shahid, in a tweet he made upon conclusion of the meeting, said that he urged diplomatic missions overseas to spare no efforts to assist the Maldivian nationals stranded overseas due to the virus pandemic, despite the many challenges.
Shahid is in constant touch with heads of diplomatic missions overseas via phone call to obtain daily updates on the situation in each country which hosts Maldivian nationals, said Foreign Ministry.
