The first shipment of Chinese aid to the Maldives to combat against the Covid-19 virus in the country has been delivered.

Chinese Ambassador Zhang Lizhong stated that the shipment included emergency medical supplies to be used in the Maldives. Ambassador Lizhong noted that this was an exemplary instance of collaboration between two countries.

The virus, which first appeared in China last December, appears to be under control in the country. China is now working to assist other countries affected by the virus.

Neighboring India is also similarly assisting the Maldives in its fight to contain the virus effectively. India recently provided important medications to the Maldives that will be of importance in the government efforts against the pandemic virus.

The Maldives has so far confirmed 14 cases of the virus. The most recent case was of a local that arrived back in the country from the UK.
