President Ibrahim Mohame Solih, on Thursday, paid a visit to the COVID-19 isolation facilities established in the Male’ region.
He visited the facility in Farukolhufushi, in Phase II of suburban Hulhumale, and the isolation facility in Tree Top Hospital this morning.
The facility in Farukolhufushi, which had held the first suspected virus cases in Maldives, has now been vacated for an upgrade.
Many resorts have now been repurposed as quarantine and isolation facilities, while the ICU in Dharumavantha Hospital has been designated to treat virus patients who need greater medical care.
13 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives, all of whom are foreign nationals who were either working or vacationing in resorts or safaris. Of the 13 people, five were from Kuredu Island Resort, two from Sandies Bathala, two from Kuramathi Island Resort, two from Anantara Dhigu, and two from Island Safari-1.
Eight have since recovered.
