2 Covid-19 patients in Maldives make full recovery

The government has just announced that two Covid-19 patients tested positive in the Maldives have made a full recovery. The news was announced by Health Minister Abdulla Ameen in a press conference currently underway.

The two patients are out of the 13 tested positive in the country.

The recovery of these two patients mean that the country now has 11 positive cases of the virus. The Minister stated that those that recovered were being treated in the Dharumavantha Hospital.

A total of three patients were being treated in the hospital for the virus and those recovered were the two elderly Italian tourists who tested positive from Sandies Bathala Resort.

The minister also stated that some others Covid-19 patients had also tested negative, but that the authorities were waiting for the results of a second test in order to confirm whether they have fully recovered. The protocol for declairing patients as negative states that two tests conducted must come back negative in order to fully confirm. Minister Ameen did not give an exact figure as to these patients and stated that the information would be revealed in due time.

The two recovered will be discharged from the hospital on Sunday, and would be placed under isolation once again as a safety measure. 

“Alhamdulillah, the patient who was more severe has been fully cured.” Said Minister before congratulating the team of doctors and medical professionals for their hardwork.

One more patient is still receiving treatment at Dharumavantha Hospital for the virus. The patient was tested positive for the virus on the Island Safari boat.
