A tourist tested positive for the Covid-19 virus in the Island Safari boat has been moved to the DH11 specialized care unit of Dharumavantha Hospital, according to the authorities.
The person, a foreign tourist, was moved to the unit in order to be closely monitored by health professionals.
The unit is specifically designed to closely monitor and treat people respiratory problems.
The Covid-19 patient will use an entrance and elevators that are not accessible to the public and some staff members as a precaution.
An elderly Italian tourist who tested positive from the resort of Sandies Bathala and his spouse are also being treated for the virus in the same unit. The man was moved due to his old age and was joined by his spouse. Authorities stated that the patient was now recovering and doing well.
The Maldives confirmed its first case of the virus on March 7. It has confirmed 13 further cases but has not tested a positive case for 14 days, showing good signs of containing the virus in the country.
