Paradise Island Resort has been placed under monitoring mechanisms after 10 people exhibited symptoms of the Covid-19 virus.

The news was announced by government spokesperson Mabrook Azeez in a press conference currently underway.

Two locals and eight foreigners were isolated from the resort, according to Mabrook.

Paradise is the only resort of Villa Hotels chain currently operating in the Maldives. The group had decided to close down all other properties except Paradise due to a reduction in arrivals and income.

  • Sun Island Resort

Operations are to be halted once the tourists already in the resorts depart. Bookings made in other resorts of Villa are to be changed to Paradise Island Resort, according to the company.
