Maldives to present paper on cyber crime at SAARC Home Ministers

Ministry of Home Affairs has said that the Maldives will present a paper on cyber crime at the meeting held between Home Ministers of SAARC countries from 24 to 26 September at Bandos Island Resort.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Mohamed Saleem said that the paper will be about the establishment of a network to prevent cyber crime, and that this will be the first discussion on fighting cyber crime held between SAARC countries.

He said that other areas of discussion include terrorism, piracy and drug crimes.

Saleem said that this meeting is important to Maldives and will be chaired by Maldives.

He further informed that discussions will also be held with India’s Home Minister on the difficulties currently faced by Maldivians who wish to obtain visa to travel to India.
