V. Thinadhoo reopened; negative tests results for Covid-19

Health Protection Agency has stated that the test results for a tourist in V. Thinadhoo, who had been exhibiting symptoms of the Covid-19, came back as negative.

The Italian tourist was moved to isolation in Farukolhufushi in Hulhumale yesterday, the agency stated that the person would be kept under monitoring for 24 hours as a precaution despite the negative test results.

The island of Thinadhoo, south of Male’ atoll, was in lockdown, and no one was allowed to leave or enter the island without the permission of HPA until the test results of the Italian tourist were received.

HPA today, announced that the island was reopened after the negative test results and “contact tracing” as well as other assessments to ensure the safety of the island was conducted.

Two other islands in lockdown

Two other islands, both resorts are currently in lockdown following suspected cases of the disease.

Kuredu Island Resort is in lockdown after an Italian tourist was tested positive for the virus after departing from the Maldives. A doctor on the island who had consulted the tourist is currently reported as exhibiting symptoms.

Two French tourists in Summer Island Resort, as well as a doctor on the island who the tourists had consulted with, are also in isolation after exhibiting symptoms of the disease. Three employees of the resort are also in isolation with symptoms.
