The Maldives has imposed travel restrictions on South Korea and Iran as a preventive measure against the fast-spreading Covid-19 disease.
The disease which originated in China, has hit the two countries hard, prompting the Maldivian foreign ministry to impose restrictions.
The ministry advised not to travel to Iran unless it is necessary and issued the same warning for South Korea. The ministry also requested that Maldivians in Iran and those traveling to Iran to register with the ministry and follow the instructions issued by the authorities in Iran.
Regarding the situation in South Korea, the ministry advised against unnecessary travels to the country, unless the “red alert” issued over the virus subsided. The ministry requested locals in South Korea to register at the Maldivian embassy in Japan or with the ministry.
