Divorce rates of 2019, more than 3000, 9 per day on average

Statistics published by the Department of Judicial Administration has shown that the number of divorces in 2019 was actually recorded at 3432.

This is an average of nine divorces per day. Compared to 2018, the figure is still an increase of 8.4 percent. The number of divorces in 2018 were numbered at 3166.

Marriage rates in the Maldives were recorded at 5035, which is an average of 13 per day. The figure drops from the 5290 marriages recorded in 2018, which is around 4.8 percent.

The Maldives still records the highest number of divorce rates per population in the world at a ratio of 10.97.
