Health Ministry has decided to install additional thermal cameras in airports as a precaution against the Novel Coronavirus.

“We will be working to install an additional six cameras in airports, which is the most we will need, for monitoring purposes. The arrangements for monitoring all the entry points into the country are being carried out,” said Health Minister Abdulla Ameen.

Minister Ameen stated that the steps after identifying and isolating a person infected with the disease are also being researched and work with WHO regarding precautionary measures have also been prepared.

“We are prepared for the next steps and additional equipment needed to prevent the disease. This includes information and testing procedures, for which we are very prepared.” said the Minister.

The number of confirmed cases has exceeded 440. The death toll stands at nine. The novel viral pneumonia, a coronavirus, appears to have originated from the city of Wuhan in December. The US is the latest country to join a growing list of places outside mainland China reporting cases, following Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Initial symptoms of the novel coronavirus include fever, cough, tightness of the chest and shortness of breath.

Chinese health officials confirmed earlier this week that the disease can be spread between humans.
