Students attempt to make an improvised explosive using stolen chemicals

Several teenage school students in Male' have been intercepted by the police after they attempted to build an improvised explosive using chemicals stolen from their school laboratory.

The students were identified only as “children under the age of 15 years”.

The police conducted searches on several properties, and confiscated the chemicals on Sunday night.

The police report that none of the children, nor any adult, have been placed under arrest in connection to the case.

The case is under further investigation by the police.
