US Ambassador presents credentials to President

The new Ambassador of the United States of America to the Maldives, Michele J. Sison has presented her letter of credence to President Dr Mohamed Waheed.

At the ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning, the President congratulated Ambassador Sison, and welcomed her to the Maldives.

At the meeting held after the ceremony, the President and the Ambassador discussed ways to further strengthen the close relations between the two countries. The President noted that the US had always been a good friend of the Maldives, both in good and bad times.

President Waheed also shared with the Ambassador, the political and economic challenges being faced by the Maldives, and briefed her on the progress of the Leaders’ Dialogue currently under way between all political parties.

Ambassador Sison congratulated the President on convening the Leaders’ Dialogue, and assured that the Maldives and America would continue to share close working relations in the future.
