HRCM meets Commonwealth

The Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) has met with a team of political advisors of the Commonwealth who visited Maldives.

The meeting, held last Wednesday, was attended by the Commonwealth’s Head of Political Affairs Division, Good Offices Section Ms Nita Yawanarajah and Political Affairs Advisor Ms Alison Pearman; and HRCM’s President Mariyam Azra, Vice President Ahmed Tholal and member Dr Ali Shameem.

During the meeting, HRCM highlighted the Commonwealth’s contribution by observing recent events, and assisting Maldives in resolving its current challenges.

HRCM said that the Commonwealth encouraged HRCM’s efforts to rectify the current situation of the Maldives.
