Kendhikulhudhoo MP Ahmed Easa has resigned as the President of the party in the constituency.

MP Easa stated in a letter and Facebook post that he was stepping aside to allow new and more youthful leaders to come forward in time for the local council elections next year.

"The post of the president for the constituency is full of responsibilities that must be carried out with the people of the constituency and by someone who is fully dedicated. I believe that this is a perfect time for a person with such capabilities and dedication to take up the role," MP Easa's resignation letter read.
