Police arrest 2 locals for mugging a migrant worker in Male’

The police have arrested two Maldivian men for bringing a migrant worker into a guesthouse under false pretenses and then commencing to rob him of money.

A police spokesperson reports the victim, identified as a Bangladeshi man, was brought to the guesthouse under the pretense they would be assigning him with work.

The spokesperson said the suspects stole MVR 50 which the victim had been carrying on his person at the time.

The suspects have been identified as a 23-year-old Maldivian man and a 32-year-old Maldivian man.

The case is under further investigation by the police.
