Jihad: Move to JP was not for power, but to serve party

Former vice president Abdulla Jihad has stated that his move to Jumhooree Party (JP) was not to gain a higher political position, but out of genuine desire to serve the party.

Jihad spoke at the ceremony held in the main office of JP at M. Kunooz last night after several former government officials signed for the party and stated that he would serve the party 24 hours and would aid the party leader in any matter.

"I do not want any position within the party. I just want to increase the number of party members and arrange my help in party matters." 

"My support will be with the party leader in all matters, My service will be available 24 hours and I will walk behind the leader at his speed," said Jihad after signing for JP. 

Jihad who had not been a well-known face on political podiums stated that this was going to change and that he would be very "active" politically from now on. 

"I hope to make this party the number one party in the country by 2023. We will succeed in our efforts god willing," said Jihad who was the last vice president under president Yameen's administration.

He also praised JP leader Gasim Ibrahim and stated that Gasim was a hardworking, intelligent and innovative individual who had increased the size of the state budget while serving as the Finance Minister in president Maumoon's administration. Jihad also stated that it showed Gasim's intelligence that the candidate who gained Gasim's support win elections in the country. 

Everyone who spoke at last night's meeting praised JP leader Gasim. Other than Jihad, former Home Minister Ahmed Azleen, former PG leader of PPM and vice president of PNC, Ahmed Nihan, former Kelaa MP Ali Arif, former Dhaandhoo MP Ahmed Assad, former Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah also signed for JP last night.
