President, First Lady depart to Sri Lanka on Eid holiday

Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have departed on a four-day unofficial visit to Sri Lanka.

President’s Office reports the President and First Lady departed to Sri Lanka this Wednesday morning.

The President’s Office states the trip is a four-day unofficial visit, and has not disclosed any further details.

It’s believed it is an Eid holiday trip to visit family relatives who reside in Sri Lanka.

Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof announced in a recent tweet that the President chose to delay his vacation in order to attend the friendly volleyball match between Maldives and Sri Lanka.

The President attended the volleyball match as the guest of honor last Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, Vice President Faisal Naseem and his spouse is celebrating the Eid holiday in L. Atoll, and has attended many of the festivities held in the atoll. The VP is also accompanied by Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid.
