PPM registry will be issued within 9 days: Elections Commission

President of the Elections Commission, Fuwad Thaufeeq today said the Commission has started check the legal forms sent by the Party, from last Sunday and that within 9 days, the Commission will be able to issue register to PPM.

If the Commission has started to check the documents last Sunday, the 9 days deadline will be on the 31st of this month.

The Commissions President has revealed that the current work going on was the checking of the forms sent by the Party in accordance with the Regulations on Political Parties and to see whether there was any clash in area with the Constitution of Maldives. He also said that they were also checking whether the nominated people for the Party’s council were real members who have registered in the Party.

Fuwad said that it would not take long to register the Party. He also added that the recently formed MRM (Maldivian Reform Movement also was registered within 9 days after they handed over the required documents.

Fuwad also said that so far there had been no problem with the documents sent by PPM, therefore if no such problem arises, very soon the Commission will be able to hand over the register to them.

The official meeting to form PPM was held on the evening of 15th of this month. The Party’s logo and color along with Party’s manifesto was passed at the Meeting. Also the Party’s Interim President was nominated along with its Interim Council. PPM has handed over the final documents required to register the Party on last Tuesday to the Election Commission.
