MPS establish Police Cooperative Society for welfare related trade purposes

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has registered a Cooperative by the name ‘Police Cooperative Society’, for the purpose of improving welfare of Police Officers.

The Cooperative was registered yesterday at Trade Ministry.

Company Registrar of Trade Ministry Ali Sujau said that 15 people were registered as shareholders of this Cooperative, but did not provide further details.

Police Media Coordinator, Sub-Inspector Hassan Haneef said that the purpose of this Cooperative is to conduct trade in order to improve the welfare of Police Officers and their family members; and that it would also allow Police Officers who are accorded honourable retirement to become shareholders of the Cooperative.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) also recently registered a ‘MNDF Welfare Company’, under which work has commenced to develop a tourist resort.
