Hulhumale

Hulhumale’ Court has accepted the case filed by the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office against former President Mohamed Nasheed, regarding the illegal arrest of Chief Judge of Criminal Court, Abdullah Mohamed.

Hulhumale’ Court stated that it has no jurisdiction over this case when it was first filed to the Court, and decided to reject it.

The PG’s Office filed the case to Hulhumale’ Court for a second time following High Court’s annulment of Hulhumale’ Court’s decision to reject it.

The Chief Judge of Criminal Court, Abdullah Mohamed of Bahaaruge, R. Hulhudhuffaaru, was arrested on 16 January 2012 and subsequently detained in Girifushi.

The PG Office has pressed charges against former President and Commander-in-Chief Mohamed Nasheed, former Defence Minister Thalhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaan, former Chief of Defence Force Moosa Ali Jaleel, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Didi and Colonel Mohamed Ziyad.
