The Cabinet has been briefed on the case of Shaim Abdulla, 14, Dhafthar 2997, who went missing while under State custody at the children’s shelter in Vilimale’.
Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services, Shidhatha Shareef, briefed President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and other Cabinet ministers with details of the case during a Cabinet meeting held at the President’s Office this Tuesday.
Director of Gender Ministry, Ibrahim Mohamed reported to ‘Sun’ that Shaim was taken into State custody to remove him from a ‘criminal environment’.
He said that Shaim was taken to the children’s shelter in Vilimale’ for an assessment, and that he was kept separate from the other children at the shelter.
Shaim went missing from the compound of the children’s shelter at 9:29 pm on June 18, and has been missing ever since.
Maldives Police Service reports that efforts to find Shaim is ongoing, and that the agency has so far searched three residences and is reviewing CCTV footage.
