CoNI Report will soon be published in Divehi

The President’s Office has stated that it is working on the publication of the Divehi language translation of the Report of the Commission of National Inquiry (CoNI) soon.

Mas’ood Imad, Press Secretary at the President’s Office, said today that the President’s Office would pubish an unofficial Divehi translation of the Report, whose original is in English.

CoNI was a national inquiry commission established by the Maldivian government as per the requirements of the international community to inquire into the circumstances under which former President Mohamed Nasheed resigned from office on the 7th of February this year. Nasheed has repeatedly claimed that he was forced to resign and that his ouster was a coup d’état. However, the findings of CoNI, published on Thursday, have rejected the claims of Nasheed and its conclusion has now been accepted by the UN, the Commonwealth and other leading nations in the international community.

“We are working to publish an unofficial Divehi translation of CoNI’s Report as soon as possible”, said Imad today, informing the media about the work done at the President’s Office to translate the original Report of CoNI into Divehi.

However, Imad said that he could not yet specify a particular date for the publication of the Divehi translation.

President Dr. Waheed has now terminated the Commission, as it has completed the work assigned to it.
