Adhaalath Party has said that the Party believes that the main aim of the mishaps created by MDP to undermine the Judiciary was to undermine the Islamic Shari’ah law in Maldives and to introduce Common Law policies and to employee foreign judges into the Judiciary of Maldives.
A press statement, by Adhaalath Party last night, condemning the MDP protests held outside the Supreme Court, calling for an independent judiciary, was the continuous work of MDP to undermine the judiciary. Adhaalath stressed that comments like calling the seven Supreme Court judges "fools" at different podiums was not a practice observed or tolerated in any other country in the world.
“Such actions of MDP, shows that that the government heads are above the law and that the government would not hesitate to "break the laws and regulations in order to achieve its objectives. This is a threat that all the Maldivians should be cautious of ". Said the statement.
Noting that the police were hesitant to protect the Residence of Maumoon and the properties and houses of the people as they are obliged to and also the fact that they did nothing in order to stop demonstrating in front of a place which the Constitution of Maldives prohibits from doing so. Because of this act, suspicion is aroused as to the independency of MNDF.
The statement also said that "atrocities" committed during MDP protest, as "degrading and uncivilised" actions carried out by senior MDP officials and activists and that it is most shameful for the general members of MDP.
Adhaalth Party also advised the people of Maldives to vote to change this government in the 2013 elections, in order to bring about a government with good governance.
