Robbers attack motorcyclist, steal over MVR 200,000 in Hulhumale’

Robbers attacked a motorcyclist and stole over MVR 200,000 in cash by forcing open the U-box of his vehicle in a snatch theft in Hulhumale’ in the early hours of this Wednesday.

Maldives Police Service reports the robbery took place approximately five minutes past midnight in front of the Cityonline Asia in Hulhumale’.

The motorcyclist had just arrived to Hulhumale’ from Male’ City when he was intercepted by four men on two motorcycles.

The motorcyclist fell to the ground after he was hit on his helmet with an unidentified object, and the robbers forced open the U-box and stole the cash kept inside.

The amount of money stolen has been confirmed as MVR 150,000 and USD 15,000.

All four of the robbers had been wearing helmets to avoid identification.

Maldives Police Service says the case is under investigation, but that no suspects have been arrested as of yet.
