Minister of Home Affairs has warned that any person who plans to commit crimes or contributes to loss of peace and order in relation to the release of the report by Commission of National Inquiry (CNI), will be arrested.
Home Ministry issued a statement tonight, which states that information had been received of plans to create violence in relation to the CNI’s report.
The statement mentions the arson attack on a public property in Sh. Feevah on 24 August, as a crime committed in relation to CNI’s report.
Home Ministry said that the Maldives Police Service is well prepared for the break out of violence, and that any person causing damage to any property will be arrested and produced in Court.
The statement also urged people to share any information received in this regard.
In addition, the statement stresses that the Home Ministry has the ultimate responsibility to ensure peace and order in the society, and that it will take any action necessary, within the rules and regulations, to protect citizens.
