Defense Minister urges not to let the different political views hinder the nation’s unity.

In a statement released by Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi, in regard of National Martyr's Day, the Minister highlighted the story of Ali Rasgefaanu. She said that it is a tragic story filled with morals, that shows that there were people even back then who put their own greed above the needs and wants of the whole nation.

“It can be seen from the history of the nation that the spread of lies by a group of people made the people lose the sight of what is right. This is what led to the tragic death of Ali Rasgefaanu,” stated Maria.

She also stated that even though the enemies tried to lie and manipulate him into surrendering the nation to them, when he learned the truth Ali Rasgefaanu decided to stand and fight against them to defend the nation and its religion.

“We revised our constitution and chose a democratic system with competing political parties. A system where political activities can be held peacefully. While we support the system, we all chose, I urge everyone not to let your political views hinder with your duties to the nation,” said the minister.

The minister also insisted to learn from our past mistakes and not to do anything that will put the prosperity and peace of the nation in danger.
