Raajje TV notified to apologise for exposing Defence Minister

Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) has requested Raajje TV to apologise for exposing text messages on Minister of Defence, Mohamed Nazim’s mobile phone on the day the government changed.

MBC said that Raajje TV exposed those messages in violation of article 24 of the Constitution and the Broadcasting Code of Practice.

MBC, after investigation of the matter, notified Raajje TV to issue a statement of apology, and broadcast this statement for three consecutive nights between 20:00 and 22:00.

Most of Nazim’s text messages leaked by MDP were congratulatory messages, while others were about arranging meetings and organising Defence Ministry’s work.
