President Mohamed Nasheed had stated that after the SAARC Summit, the Addu Convention’s management will be outsourced and the opening of the bidding to develop a Convention Hotel nearby the Addu Convention will commence within this week.
The President also revealed that this project will be run under the Public Private Partnership.
In the Press Conference held today, in the President’s Office, the President said after the concluding of the 17th SAARC Summit, the Addu Convention, situated in Addu City’s Hithadhoo, will have its management outsourced. He also indicated that work in on-going on the bidding process between the Addu City Council and Tourism Ministry in developing a Convention Hotel in adjacent to the Convention.
The President highlighted that although bidding process will be opened now for bidders for the management of the Addu Convention and the Convention Hotel, the project is planned to be handed over to the successors only at the beginning of next year.
