Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) held a protest in Male’ last night, calling on the Commission of National Inquiry (CNI) to publish its report on the transfer of power according the truth.
Supporters of MDP marched the streets of Male’ after a rally at Usfasgandu last night.
According to MDP, the draft report put together by the CNI’s Co-chair contradicts the truth.
Nasheed’s representative in the CNI, Gaha Ahmed Saeed told media yesterday that he was not satisfied with the draft report, as the report failed to include several interviews which had been collected by the CNI.
Members of Parliament of MDP who spoke at last night’s rally said that the CNI should not be allowed to publish its final report according to the draft.
Saeed first said to the media yesterday that the draft report was put together by CNI’s Co-chair appointed by the Commonwealth, Singaporean retired Judge G.P. Selvam; but later said that it was put together by all the members of the CNI.
The government yesterday condemned Saeed’s expression of dissatisfaction over the contents of the draft report, citing that it is a violation of the agreement made by the government and former President Mohamed Nasheed with the Commonwealth.
