A tourist has been found dead at the Paradise Island Resort.
The person has been identified by Maldives Police Service as a 36-year-old male from China who had been spending his vacation at the resort island.
The man was found dead inside a villa, and was transported to Male’ City and taken to the ADK Hospital last Sunday night.
This is the third tourist death at the resort this January.
It follows the drowning of an 84-year-old male from Czech Republic on January 19, and the drowning of a 66-year-old female from South Korea during a snorkeling excursion on January 16.
Ministry of Tourism has announced plans to launch a nation-wide inspection of tourist properties in Maldives following the recent increase in drownings and fire incidents in Maldivian resorts.
