Current MP for Fonadhoo constituency, Abdul Raheem Abdulla (Adhurey), has announced that he would be seeking re-election for the constituency with the support of the former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Former President Yameen had previously handed the PPM ticket to the constituency to the former Vice President of PPM, Adhurey. However, he has since left PPM and joined the People’s National Congress Party (PNC), a political party being formed under the leadership of the former President Yameen.
Adhurey told Sun Media tonight that he had not decided which party he would be representing in the parliament election. But he would be running for the Fonadhoo constituency.
Last week, Adhurey had submitted 4,000 membership forms to be registered to PNC. However, the Elections Commission has yet to register the political party.
