The academic new year 2019 began at Maldivian schools this Sunday morning with the launch of State’s pilot school breakfast program.
The pilot breakfast program was launched this Sunday at Ameeniya School by Vice President Faisal Naseem in a ceremony attended by Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali.
Breakfast, under the pilot program, will be provided to students of 25 public schools across Maldives during the first term.
Speaking at the launching event, VP Faisal Naseem encouraged students to become productive citizens of the country and respect and care for their parents.
Faisal Naseem said the biggest responsibility of students was to gain education and knowledge, and encouraged students to continue seeking knowledge throughout their lives.
“The truth which cannot be denied is that without good health, there can be no true success,” said Faisal Naseem.
The VP said that educating Maldivian children and horning them to become productive citizens of the country who respect and care for their parents was one of the current administration’s biggest priorities.
“This administration will spend on education like it has never been spent on before. We will work on improving education and developing the resources of schools as never before,” said Faisal Naseem.
Speaking during a press conference last week, Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Ali described the academic year 2019 as “a year of new hopes and new acheievements.”
